Bio
In a darkest corner of the most noisome quarter of the Drellms, lies an ageing building of wood and brass. It appears to be held together with brass nails and sheer willpower. A faded sign creaks lazily in the seabreeze, and the letters Steamgear Tavern can just be made out in the dim streetlight. Although the outside is grim, music and gaily singing voices can be heard from the inside and a warm glow emanates from the large front windows.

Once inside that warmth washes over the senses in a cacophony sights, smells and sounds: cursing, singing, stews bubbling on the fire, shouting, pots clanging, guns firing, fists swinging, and all the other trappings of tavern life. Over this thuderous affirmation of life a singular voice can be heard. "Ach, laddie ye touch tha grog wit'out payin' I'll have yer guts fer garters!" a robust woman yells brandishing a blade. That is Lady Grainne Penthrift, proprietess of Steamgear, and a holy terror to boot! I would keep a low profile at first, and not catch her interest or you might find yourself a limb or coinpurse lighter than when you first came.

As you wind your way through the throngs of tavern goers there can be seen pirate, scavenger, merchant, and aristocracy sipping wine and ale together for Steamgear Tavern is the true melting pot of Cypristryphn. Towards the back of the tavern there are what is known as Hush-hush rooms, private booths with doors used for all manner of meetings both legal and of a more nefarious kind. As you approach a young woman of pale countenance and raven hair touches your arm. "Good evening, I am Lady Ophelia Crane." As she speaks she draws you in to one of the booths, and quickly closes the door behind. Once inside the room you look around and see others of a similar nature to that of Lady Ophelia.

"I thank you for coming this evening." She speaks in a low musical tone that speaks of her noble birth. "I would first like to tell you that you are here because I have found in you a particular creative expression that is vital to our mission. There are forces at work in our fair city that would seek to keep us from our true calling. They fill our lives with a multitude of distractions that force us to exhaustion in attempts to find the time to allow our imaginative arts to come forth. I have brought you here today to invite you to become part of a group that's principal goal is the advancement of literature and writing through discussion of relevant works as well as some of our own. We are known as the Literati Avant Garde, and we do hereby invite you to join."
